You might be wondering why an analogue print magazine, created to celebrate the art of photography and bring it back to paper, now comes in an electronic form. Before I‘m going to answer this question I wat to disclaim something: This is NOT the end of the print magazine. There will still be a regular printed THE ANALOGUE TIMES Vol. 5 someday.
But now back to the “Why does this exist?”.
Some of you know that I, Jannis Mattar, the editor of this magazine, used to publish my art on Patreon. But I felt so pressured to post a series every week without real editing or context just for the sake of showing something, that I quit. I didn’t want my art to become meaningless mass production. Since I made this decision, I’ve been thinking a lot about how I could still share my work, but in a more curated, precious manner.
And here we are.
Maybe this experiment will remain a one-hit-wonder. But maybe this could be a new start for me to showcase my photography on a regular basis.
I hope, you will like this form of presentation and can enjoy my work.
